My First 8k Run in Well-A-Thon 2016

I started participating in running events with 5k run and gradually I took little more interest in running. First I ran 5k in "No TV day" organised by Hindustan Times, then twice I ran 5k in "Walk for Health" (2015 & 2016). Recently I came to know about Well-A-Thon and saw the distance was 8k, so I thought lets go for it. I did registration for the same and collected the running kit from the venue on 4th March.

Well-A-Thon (http://wellathon.in) was scheduled at Bandra, which is at a little far distance from my home so yesterday I woke at 4 am in the morning and moved out around 4.30am with full excitement since this was my first 8k run in any marathon. I reached Bandstand at 6am, saw all the crew members and organizers were busy in giving final touch to start the event. Some people were gathering their t-shirts and kit for the run. Some warm up sessions were conducted by fitness experts and I enjoyed doing that which gave little more energy to me.

Starting point- Bandra Fort, popularly known as Bandstand
Finishing point- Thadomal Shahani Engineering College
Total Distance- 8 kilometers

The marathon started at 7.15am and we all started running with full energy to complete 8k run as soon as possible. Initially I ran very fast but after sometime, I reduced my pace so that I can complete full 8k without any stop in between. The one good thing about this 8k run is that I never stopped in between, only thing is I reduced my speed several times.

When I crossed 6km, I increased my pace and overtook many other people and finally reached the destination. I saw the time was 8 O'clock, so this way I completed my first 8k run within 45 minutes. I did some stretching and relaxed for few minutes. Body assessment and physiotherapy sessions were organized by health sponsor for everyone who completed the race. I did both of these things then went for having some refreshments by them. After sometime certificates and medals were distributed to those who completed 8k run, I was one of them.
